Spruce Villa acknowledges that we are all interconnected
through our communities, both large and small. Our
connections create a strength that none of us possess on our
own. Through our community connections, Spruce Villa is able
to advocate for and assist those that we serve to obtain
support systems that promote valued participation in our
society. Spruce Villa Supports positive change through:
-
Supporting participation in self-advocacy organizations
-
Supporting the right to vote and participate in public
processes for all citizens.
-
Participation and support of neighborhood initiatives and
activities
-
Participation in work groups and task forces that impact
systems through which services and supports are provided
-
Active participation in provider organizations at all levels
of government
Spruce Villa has partnered with Sunny Oaks and
Community Support Services to create Affiliated Services, Inc.
This new organization has increased the training, recreation
and resources available to individuals receiving services and
employees.
Spruce Villa is an active member of the Community Provider
Association of Oregon (CPAO) and American Network of Community
Options and Resources (ANCOR),
dynamic state and national trade associations that focus on
providing advocacy, resources, services and networking
opportunities to providers of private services and supports.
Through these organizations, Spruce Villa participates in
effectively creating changes that improve all our communities
and lives.

Individuals
Receiving Services and Support The majority of individuals receiving services live
at or below the federal poverty level. After paying their
bills they have approximately $70 dollars each month (from
wages and benefits), to purchase needed clothing, leisure and
hobby items, recreation options, personal hygiene supplies,
haircuts, etc. Donated items of this type go directly to those
in the most need. |
 |
Housing and
Employment
for Individuals Receiving Services and Supports
Significant portions of the budget are
directed towards repairing, replacing and maintaining housing,
vehicles, furnishings and equipment. Cash and in-kind
donations of sofas, washers/dryers, lamps, microwaves, food
processors, lawnmowers, edgers, garden tools, beds, bedding,
linens, pots and pans, and vacuums would all be greatly
appreciated. |
 |
Individuals
Providing Services and Supports (Staff)
Wages for employees in the private sector are historically
low compared with those of the public sector. Often
employees are eligible for government assistance programs
such as food stamps, the Oregon Health Plan, and earned
income credits. While direct donations will not alleviate
this issue, advocacy at the Legislative level would be
time well spent. |

Gifts for the
Future of Spruce Villa
Spruce Villa relies almost exclusively on public funds to
provide the services and supports needed and desired by
the individuals served and to meet other contractual
obligations. Individual cash donations of more than
$2500 that are not made to address a specific need will be
held in endowment for the future of Spruce Villa.

"Our inner strengths, experiences, and
truths cannot be lost, destroyed, or taken away. Every person
has an inborn worth and can contribute to the human community.
We all can treat one another with
dignity and respect, provide opportunities to grow toward our
fullest lives and help one another discover and develop our
unique gifts. We each deserve this and we all can extend it to
others.”"
